Raising the quality of life for all beings by helping people embody the ecology of human, animal, and land health as one.

Nutrition Coaching, Agroecology Education, and Food System Consulting

By Kara Kroeger

One Mission
Many Paths

My passion is helping food producers, supply chain participants, and eaters move from thinking in parts to thinking in whole systems through holistic health coaching, food systems support, and agroecology education. I encourage and facilitate life-changing shifts to help my clients regenerate land, nourish their bodies, boost their quality of life, and improve their environmental impact.

"If the soil is not healthy, no being can be fully healthy.” - Kara Kroeger

My journey into agroecology began after 18 years in the holistic health field as a Certified Herbalist, Nutrition Coach, and Chef as the owner of my business Kroeger Nutrition LLC. Upon being exposed to a philosophy of land regeneration called Holistic Management while helping a friend restore degraded pastures on her cattle ranch in Uvalde, Texas, I witnessed the profound similarities between human health, soil health, and the fascinating microbes that move between us and inextricably link us together.

This discovery quickly brought me full circle in my work as an Herbalist and Nutritionist because I realized that no human or animal could become healthy if our soils were not healthy!  And believe me, most of our soils are far from healthy, so unsurprisingly, neither are most of our human gastrointestinal tracts. Sincerely inspired to do something about improving the state of our soils, agriculture and ecology to produce healthier food and people, I returned to school and got my degree in agriculture. I work as a holistic nutrition coach and agroecology educator to incorporate all my skills under one holistic umbrella. By focusing on soil health, and particularly the health of the human gastrointestinal tract, we can heal humans, animals, and the land.

I have found that supporting regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems and human health through nutrition is the most far-reaching way to grow this awareness… literally from the ground up. After all, we all have to eat!

My offerings are designed to support ecological literacy, create agency over your health, and advocate just food and healthcare systems for all.

HERE'S WHAT MY CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY

I watched Kara's presentation to the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I appreciate her approach, specifically her ability to contextualize the research she cites as well as her ability to bring the audience along into the myriad of factors that impact gut health and agriculture practices.  I find it increasingly hard to find both a holistic and academic approach.  She clearly understands how to connect the dots and name key obstacles while suggesting paths forward, all while acknowledging the complexities at play in the agricultural systems in which I work.

I came to Kara about 6 days post-surgery, I had dire gastral-intestinal distress and pain that kept me up nightly. Her consultation set me up with a map to recovery. She gave me direction on what foods to include and what to avoid, suggested supplements and other holistic specialists. Within days I started feeling better. Her confidence and her plan was empowering in a really doubtful moment. She gave me tools to heal, but also belief that healing and health would come. I highly recommend Kara as an invaluable holistic health coach at any stage of your health continuum!

AS WITHIN SO WITHOUT

"THERE ARE NO PASSENGERS ON SPACESHIP EARTH. WE ARE ALL CREW."

An ENVIRONMENT is the total sum of living and nonliving elements in a given area, including its physical characteristics and interactions. It is an aggregate of things, conditions, or influences, such as ecology, cultures, businesses, social dynamics, and finance. For example, an entire park is an environment that includes trees, grass, concession stands, benches, recreation enterprises, park management, wildlife, and people and pets interacting in it.

We are faced with hundreds of daily decisions about how to best care for internal and external environent. “As Within, So Without” is considered a universal truth or law that shows us that the outside world reflects our inner world. How we treat ourselves internally tends to manifest in our lives externally and often has much further reach than we might be aware of. This includes:

  • What we choose to feed ourselves.

  • The choices we make to create energy in the body.

  • The type of products we buy to make our daily lives comfortable and convenient.

  • How we manage our feelings, emotions, and beliefs.

  • How we treat ourselves and others.

  • How we tune into and use nature's rhythmic cycles and balancing mechanisms.

  • How we care for environments that supply our food, water, and the air we breath.

  • How we advocate for the welfare of all living beings.

For these reasons, it behooves us to raise our awareness regarding this universal truth and how it applies to our lives. Doing all that we can to simplify and live with intention in these areas allows us to improve our internal and external environments. As the world progresses into more chaotic states due to climate change and political turmoil, our ability to nurture and care for ourselves increases our capacity to show up for ourselves and others. By caring for ourselves, we also care for the world around us.

THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS OUT THERE.
What sets Kara apart from other “experts”?

I HAVE 25 YEARS COMBINED EXPERIENCE AS A CERTIFIED HERBALIST, NUTRITION COACH,

CHEF, AGROECOLOGIST, AND FOOD SYSTEMS THINKER

After 20 years of practicing nutrition and running my own private chef business, I went back to school to study agriculture and soil health. I realized humans will only get healthier once we improve the health of the soil in which our food is grown. You see, the soil is the gut of the earth and functions and behaves in incredibly similar ways. The health of the soil strongly influences our human gut and, thus, our health. Through my varied knowledge and experience I’ve come to understand how the parts of a whole are intimately interconnected, creating a deep well of understanding.

I have real-world experience in every aspect of the farm-to-table process, as well as holistic and allopathic health care.

At the young age of 16, I was deeply influenced by my father’s early death from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, caused by his exposure to agent orange while serving in Vietnam. My father’s tragic passing:

Exposed me to the pitfalls we encounter when we treat symptoms instead of the whole being.

Taught me that quality of life quickly diminishes when we think ONLY in parts.

Turned me on to the healing power of regenerative agriculture, food, and herbs.

Entrenched an awareness of the devastation that environmental pollutants inflict on our bodies.

Focused my attention on helping people integrate holistic practices in every facet of life to live healthfully.

I know that I am not the only one with such a story. So many people have come to me seeking to find their own unique way of feeling whole in their body, mind, and environment. I’m here to help you do that by teaching you to think holistically so that we may embody the ecology of human, animal, and land health as ONE, and live a more resilient life!
